With MTA - MountainApp, we explore people’s perceptions of landscapes in mountainous countries. We are interested in everyday outdoor places that people visit and want to better understand the meanings attached to these places and landscapes. Share “your” landscapes and explore other people’s mountain experiences!
How do mountain regions respond to climate change or out-migration? Such questions guide the transnational research seminar “Sustainable Mountain Development” taught at Tbilisi State University and the University of Zurich starting in 2022. MTA was developed for this course to facilitate cross-country student collaboration, and for participants explore different (mountain) contexts in Georgia and Switzerland. Follow our project on this website to learn more about the course and explore students’ writings!
MTA is part of the bi-national project “Where Georgia and Switzerland meet: Sustainable development in mountain areas”, which is supported by a seed funding Grant of the Swiss Leading House for Science & Technology Cooperation, University of Geneva, as part of the Swiss Bilateral Cooperation Programme of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). Within this project, a modular course at both the Department of Human Geography at TSU and the Department of Geography at UZH was created.
